Gateside is the second of our self catering holiday accommodation within the grounds of Faside Estate. The stone barn was previously used for agricultural storage before being converted in 1996 into self catering holiday accommodation. Within the shared grounds there is almost an acre of woodland a quarter of a century old and a small woodland pond. There is a shared barbeque area and picnic bench for enjoyable summer afternoons and evenings. The gardens are surrounded by a beech hedge and have a small orchard, where you will often find our black rock chickens. There is ample parking adjacent to the property.
The ground floor accommodation comprises a double bedrooms, a twin room and a family bathroom with bath and handheld shower. The floors throughout this level are of beautiful terracotta tiling and wood flooring is used on the upper level and compliments the exposed beams.Both sets of beds are antiques and we take great pride in the furnishing of the properties.
Upstairs is a large open plan living area with a kitchen comprising of electric cooker/hob, fridge, microwave, ample storage and all the mod cons. We provide free wi-fi in the property and a digibox plus DVD player is are also provided. There is a washing machine with integral dryer in the property. There is a dining table which seats four, perfect for enjoying your evening meals.
The focal point of the living area is the full height window which boasts stunning panoramic views at all times of day through all the seasons. From here you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The property sits next to the castle itself and has the full benefits of two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas.
The property is perfectly located for those who enjoy the tranquillity of being in the countryside whilst only being a quick dash from Edinburgh and the Lothian. The properties are self contained and Woodside is the perfect home away from home.

To get to Gateside from Edinburgh head east on the A1 towards Berwick upon Tweed. Turn off at the junction for Wallyford and Dalkeith (A6094) and then at the top of the sliproad turn right following signs for Whitecraig. Two hundred meter's after crossing the carriageway you turn left onto a minor country road which has no signpost. Woodside is about one and a half miles up this road.

We accept the following payment methods for our self catering holiday accommodation: Cash on arrival,Bank Transfer and Cheques (to have cleared prior to arrival) and Paypal. You can also book any of our self catering holiday accommodation online either through the accommodation page or by clicking the Accommodation / Bookings button below.
A deposit to secure the self catering holiday accommodation is due upon booking. The balance is due at least one month prior to arrival and for last minute bookings a full payment is due upon booking. We reserve the right to declare the contract void, the deposit forfeit and to re-let the accommodation should the balance not have been received within the time limit. Once a booking has been confirmed, you are liable for the whole cost of the holiday.
Arrival times for the self catering holiday accommodation are after 2pm and departure times are before 11am. Please advise us of your estimated time of arrival upon booking. Also, please leave the property clean and tidy.
All the self catering holiday accommodation is cleaned between each let. However, as only a limited period of time is available to clean properties, it is a condition of your let that you leave the property and its contents as you find it.
The hirer shall ensure that the standard of cleanliness of the self catering holiday accommodation is as high on their departure as on their arrival. A surcharge will be levied if this condition is not observed. You are responsible for the care of the property and its contents including security during your stay. Please report any damages, losses and breakages.
Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement in the self catering holiday accommodation on the understanding that they are not allowed onto the furniture or into the bedrooms, are not left alone in the property and no sign of the pet is evident in the property or garden on departure and no nuisance or annoyance is caused.
Please be aware that we have dogs, cats and chickens. All the self catering holiday accommodation is non smoking. Linen and towels are provided. No more than the stated number may stay at the property and the Hirer shall not sub-let the premises or any part thereof.
The contract confers on the hirer the right to occupy the accommodation for a holiday only and. terms of section 12 ( schedule 4, paragraph 8 ) of the housing ( Scotland ) Act 1988 is not an 'assured tenancy'.
The description of the property is as accurate as possible but cannot be warranted, nor does the description form any contract. We reserve the right to alter or improve any of the subjects without notice and we reserve the right to enter the property at any reasonable time.
