Eating Out

There are many fantastic eateries in East Lothian and of course in Edinburgh, which is only 12 minutes away on the train! The Prestoungrange Gothenburg offers a variety of great food and has its own micro-brewery.

The Lanna Thai in Musselburgh combines beautifully presented food with excellent service, whether you sit-in or take-away.

The Open Arms in Dirleton serves delicious food and is situated opposite the ruins of Dirleton Castle. The Open Arms serves fine foods in the cosy Library and has a less formal Brasserie.

Another great place to eat is The Birdcage in Musselburgh is is a converted cotton mill offering a wide selection of good food.

The Ducks at Kilspindie in Aberlady offers a quality a la carte menu and is a ideal choice for a special occasion.  Ducks also has a cocktail bar.  Another good choice for special occasions is The Old Aberlady Inn.

The recently reopened Mrs Forman's Bar and Kitchen is located next to the historic golf course in Musselburgh. This place offers a good variety of food in a pleasant and friendly environment and is a place we would personally recommend.

The Old Clubhouse prepares fresh, good quality food in the picturesque village of Gullane.

For those who wish are self catering we would recommend a trip to Gosford Bothy, a farm shop near Aberlady which supplies quality home-produced and locally sourced produce including excellent wild boar sausages!  They also have a cafe.

Haddington Farmers Market takes place on the last Saturday of every month from 9am – 1pm in Court Street, Haddington.  The market offers garden plants, bespoke handcrafts and is an unique opportunity to see the variety of food produced on a small scale in Scotland.
