About The Tower

At the top of the 14th century old tower lies our B&B holiday accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to a rooftop walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning?

The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide ‘Emperor’ bed and there is a TV in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite. A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy at their leisure.

Guests staying in the Tower also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle — the Great Hall — a magnificent old room with an original stone fireplace and log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Stone window seats are built into the thick castle walls, and up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie.

From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. Faside Estate is only ten miles from Edinburgh, with easy access to local golf courses, museums, towns and restaurants.

Unique and incredible experience. The hosts are informative, friendly, and accommodating. The castle itself is epic, for lack of a better word. It has most of the comforts of home, but retains the look and feel of authentic old world castle-ness. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a distinctly different vacation.

Tip: Follow Ian's advice and take the train to Edinburgh instead of driving. It's quick, cheap, and reliable.

Fantastic accommodation! Clean and comfortable....wonderful continental breakfast items left in room. Had top two floors all to ourselves! Ian and Sue wonderful hosts, made us feel welcome. Would definitely stay again.

Tip: Steep stairs to access accommodation levels so pack a small bag with all your essentials, as bringing up a large suitcase is difficult!

All the atmosphere of a medieval castle with all the modern comforts and conveniences! This was our second visit but we hope not our last. The bedroom with dining area is huge, as is the fabulous great hall. Ian and Sue couldn't be more helpful and interesting

Staying at the Tower was an experience worth repeating! Everything from the owners to the rooms was perfect. Only thing missing was seeing stars from the battlements, and you can't control the weather!

Tip: Excellent location if you're wanting to explore areas around Edinburgh! Close to Stirling, the Kelpies, and the airport. And so much more fun than a chain hotel.

Sue and Ian are gracious hosts and just delightful to talk with. I wish we could have stayed longer. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay in the turret of a real medieval castle!

Tip: See Carberry Tower while you are here!

The entire stay was amazing. The comfort of the tower was exceptional and it was only made better by the friendliness of the owners. Their knowledge of the area and Scotland as a whole made us feel special.

Tip: The town of musselburgh nearby has everything you need. Great coffee shops, restaurants and stores. Definitely inquirers with the owners and they will gladly point you in the right direction
