Stay in our guest suite within the castle tower
At the top of the 14th century old tower lies our B&B holiday accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to a rooftop walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning?
The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide ‘Emperor’ bed and there is a TV in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite. A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy at their leisure.
Guests staying in the Tower also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle — the Great Hall — a magnificent old room with an original stone fireplace and log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Stone window seats are built into the thick castle walls, and up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie.
From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. Faside Estate is only ten miles from Edinburgh, with easy access to local golf courses, museums, towns and restaurants.
Flawless. Highly recommend, can't wait to rebook!
Sue was a lovely hostess. She told us so much about the history of the area and Fa’side. Excellent selection of food for breakfast and/or snack. Our first time staying in a castle (my birthday treat). Must say I’m jealous of the owners! Fire was laid out and ready to light. It was very romantic. Only thing I would change: directions could read, take first left after going over the carriage way. If you get to the roundabout you’ve gone too far.
Tip: Thank you for lovely stay!

Brilliant location Very comfortable accommodation Ian & Sue, our hosts, friendly and welcoming with a wealth of information about the castle and local area.
Tip: Historic Edinburgh Viewing the road and rail bridges from Queensferry. Coastal walks around Limekiln Roslyn Chapel
What an amazing adventure!! The Fa'Side Castle was just two stops on a train from Edinburgh Waverly. Then a quick taxi ride from there... maybe five minutes? 8? Far enough to be out in the countryside but still close enough to the city. The castle Tower is enormous with a huge sitting room (both of my living rooms at home would fit into it) and the room upstairs was huge too! The bed is very large and fit me and both of my teenage daughters easily. There's a dining table in the room too where we played cards at night and had breakfast in the morning (they are well stocked with cereals, milk, coffee, and breads). It was always my dream to stay the night in a real authentic castle and this was it ...complete with winding staircases, gorgeous views, and even a dungeon. Sue and Ian and their dog Hamish couldn't have been nicer!!
Tip: Before we got to the castle the taxi driver dropped us at Premier Inn so we could grab lunch. Great menu that pleased everyone! Nice atmosphere too. We wanted o go back for dessert but didn't find the time. Taxi was easy to get and super helpful and friendly.

Fantastic place to stay! We received a very warm welcome and hearing about the castles history is just fab. The owners are clearly still passionate about the castle and continue to invest in its running. Loved the clever mix of old and contemporary furnishings which work really well here. Lovely breakfast too and the bed was amazing! There are literally no areas where things could be improved - short of having to leave... Will certainly return.
Tip: This is a fantastic place to stay! You can stay in and make the most of the great hall, the amazing views from the battlements or equally it's not too far to get to local amenities for some good grub. We didn't venture out as it seemed a waste of an opportunity not to stay and be Laird for the night. It's an authentic castle, so expect steep spiral stairs - just take your time and unless you have mobility problems, you'll be fine.
Our stay here was spectacular. When we arrived we were greeted so warmly and given a tour along with the history of the castle. Our room exceeded our expectations and the sitting room made us feel as though we lived here. We truly experienced a piece of Scotland by staying here!

Tip: A must for anyone wishing to experience something different
Sue and Ian were so kind to greet us when we arrived and Sue gave us an amazing tour of the castle which certainly enhanced our stay with them. Our only complaint is that we did stay there longer and enjoy their hospitality more! What a wonderful way to end our trip to Scotland! Thank you Sue and Ian!
If you want a totally unique romantic stay this is it. Hosts were amazing with excellent care to every detail. It is band b but good facilities to bring your own cold supper which we did - also a microwave. Views fantastic yet close to Edinburgh. Stairs up not fir the faint hearted- did us good! Brilliant we will go back.
This was a very unique and fun experience. You have three floors of the tower all to yourself to truly feel like you're living in a castle. The views from the roof were beautiful, you can see Edinburgh and the sea in the distance. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. They provide a wide variety of breakfast items and snacks in the room for you. Cereals, yogurts, croissants, danishes, bread, jams, desserts, juices, coffee and tea. The great room was perfect to build a fire and relax in. This is truly a hidden gem and we were so glad we found it.
The hosts are very kind and helpful
Tip: take the train from Wallyford into Edinburgh. there is a big free parking lot nearby the station and no problems with parking in Edinburgh centre. also take the local way along the coast in the direction of Berwick on Tweed
Great hospitality of the host - Mr. & Mrs. Brash! We felt so homely during the stay. The 2 nights' stay were definitely the highlight of our 15 days tour to Scotland, and unforgettable one!
Tip: Brewers Fayre in Musselsburgh served very nice full rack ribs and cajun/bbq/paprika chicken. We had meals twice there as the price are reasonable as well.
Excellent hosts and absolutely beautiful views both inside and outside the castle. You need a car to get around, but I was visiting family in Musselburgh so perfect for us....
Fantastic location and atmosphere. Very friendly welcome from our hosts.
Tip: Drive the coast road to Dirleton and visit the castle there and further on at Tantallon. Park and eat at Dirleton as you won't be able to park at North Berwick!,
